GREAT FALLS – Over 200 motorcyclists gathered in Great Falls for a 9/11 memorial ride, a tradition year after year since the tragedy that rocked the country.
“It’s important to the world to remember this. It’s important to our kids to know about this,” ride organizer Pam Howard said.
Pam Howard and Kristin Heikkila spend months organizing the ride. Thanks to social media, the two are able to bring bikers from out of town to the Electric City for the ride.
The fifteen minute ride through the city ends at the Veterans Memorial at Centene Stadium.
There a ceremony was held with guest speakers such as Mayor Bob Kelly and Pastor JT from Set Free.
Local volunteer fire departments, Ox & Sons, airmen from Malmstrom Air Force Base, the National Guard Color Guard and many other volunteers make this ride happen.
When asked about the turnout, Pam and Kristin say they are not surprised.
“It’s hard to put into words, it really is. It’s just a meaningful thing. To really describe it, everyone has different feelings. To me, it’s just, I have the utmost respect to our first responders, our military, the people it effected after that day,” Howard said.
