At around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, first responders received word of a large fire along 460 McIver Road just west of Great Falls.
Vaughn Fire Rescue said the fire was an illegal burn - in which what appeared to be railroad ties were burned without a permit.
Vaughn Fire Rescue chief Jason McAllister said the crew was paged out at 5:29 p.m. and the fire was contained around 6:15 p.m.
Vaughn Fire Rescue, Sun Prairie Fire Rescue, and Cascade County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call.
McAllister explained that community members must possess a burn permit and only burn permissible materials.
