GARRISON — A man is in custody after a standoff with police on Interstate 90 just west of Garrison early Thursday morning.
Butte Sheriff Ed Lester said SWAT teams from Butte-Silver Bow and Missoula were called out to Powell County and they arrested the man who was holed up in his disabled pickup truck on the highway. No one was injured in the arrest.
The sheriff had no information on the identity of the man arrested, but said he was in custody in Powell County.
The incident started as a reported shooting incident in Gallatin County early Thursday, which turned into a multi-county police pursuit on the highway involving several law enforcement agencies.
The interstate was shut down for several hours during the standoff but has since been opened up to traffic.
