BILLINGS — Nathaniel Tucker of Lodge Grass, faces five felony charges and three misdemeanors for the incident, which sent at least three people, including Tucker, to the hospital, according to the Yellowstone County jail roster.
Tucker, 36 years old, allegedly fled two crash scenes before hitting a construction worker on South Billings Boulevard, according to Billings police.
On Thursday, police first responded to a crash at South Billings Boulevard and Stone Street at 5:52 p.m. and discovered the suspect vehicle had been involved in a previous acccident at Collier Road and Blue Creek, according to a release from Lt. Brian Krivitz.
The suspect - later identified as Tucker - ran from the scene and drove to the construction zone on South Billings Boulevard, struck the worker, and kept driving, according to Krivitz.
He then ran over a school zone sign at South Billings Boulevard and Stone Street, crossed the median then struck a green Mazda passenger car head-on and a blue GMC Denali, Krivitz wrote. He then struck a power pole and tried to flee the vehicle but was caught by Yellowstone County sheriff's deputies.
All victims have serious injuries that do not appear life-threatening, according to Krivitz.
Tucker faces three felony charges of criminal endangerment and two charges of negligent vehicular assault. He also faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, obstructing a peace officer, and resisting arrest.
The Montana Highway Patrol and Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the crashes that occurred in the construction zone and Blue Creek. The Billings Police Department Crash Investigation Team is investigating the crash on South Billings and Stone Street. Montana Highway Patrol, Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office, Billings Police Department, Billings Fire Department, AMR, and Northwestern Energy all responded.
