Chapman charged with raping a teen

Kristopher Alan Chapman, arrested by police in Havre last month on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor, is facing 31 felony charges.

Chapman, 33 years old, is facing six felony counts of sexual intercourse without consent, 24 counts of felony sexual abuse of children, and one count of felony indecent exposure, according to the Havre Daily News.

Police received several tips that Chapman had sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers went to Chapman’s residence, where they found a 13-year-old girl hiding in his closet.

Officers seized Chapman's cellphone, and after obtaining a warrant to search it, found at least 19 photographs ranging from November 10 to December 7, which depicted the 13-year-old girl partially or completely nude.

Officers also found at least five videos of sexual acts, which officers were able to identify Chapman by his voice and visible tattoos.

According to the Montana Department of Corrections, Chapman has a felony conviction for assault with a weapon.

According to Montana Code 45-5-501 , consent to sexual intercourse can not be given by people who are:

  • (i) mentally disordered or incapacitated;
  • (ii) physically helpless;
  • (iii) overcome by deception, coercion, or surprise;
  • (iv) less than 16 years old;
