Authorities investigating two homicides in Yellowstone County

BILLINGS — Authorities are investigating two homicides in Yellowstone County; there are no indications at this point that they are related.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a woman in Ballantine - about 22 miles northeast of Billings - on Friday morning.

Sheriff Mike Linder said in a news release that deputies were at the Longbranch Trailer Court after receiving a report at about 6 a.m.

A man has been arrested; he was located on East I Road at 8:40 a.m., Linder said. The names of the victim and the suspect have not yet been released.

The Billings Police Department said a 33-year-old man was shot and died and a 62-year-old man has been arrested following an incident shortly after 3 a.m. at a residence at 429 19th Street West.

The suspect in that shooting has been identified as Robert Knight; he is being held in the Yellowstone County jail on a pending charge of deliberate homicide.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
