Court documents state Great Falls police officers were dispatched to the Goodwill Store on April 22 regarding a cashier taking money from the business.

An officer spoke with Asset Protection and Management who reported Lee had admitted she stole money from the business, according to court documents.

The thefts were discovered after Lee’s cash register came up “short” on April 18.

After investigating the loss, Goodwill’s Director of Asset Protection told the officer the total amount Lee embezzled was $4,327.69.

Lee told officers she stole cash while employed at Goodwill and explained she committed the thefts by printing a duplicate receipt of real transactions, then using the duplicate receipt to authorize a “fake” return on her register, according to court documents.

She said she stole money several times this way, but estimated the total only at $1,500.

Prosecutors requested Lee be released on her own recognizance.
