A former East Glacier teacher has been charged in federal court for sexual abuse.

Sierra Shawnee Taylor, also known as Sierra Schildt, pleaded not guilty last week to one count of sexual abuse of a minor.

According to court documents, Taylor knowingly engaged in sexual acts with a male minor.

The victim was between the ages of 12 and 16 years old at the time of the alleged offense. Court documents do not state whether the victim was a student at the time.

According to East Glacier Park Grade School Principal and Superintendent Karlona Sheppard, Taylor worked for the district between August of 2009 and June of 2015.

Taylor resigned from the school district and Sheppard said it was not a forced resignation. She was released from federal custody last week.

Her trial has been set for June 10.
