On March 31, four people, including Tyler Hinson, were outside a residence on the 900 block of 2nd Avenue South when Daniel Gregory stopped and got out of his vehicle. Gregory, Hinsen, and another man started arguing and Gregory had a machete, according to an affidavit.

Gregory had reportedly threatened two of the people with a machete on March 17 near Warden Park.

Another person got in between the arguing parties and Gregory hit him over the head with the machete, according to the affidavit. Hinson then got a pistol from his vehicle, which caused Gregory to start driving away.

An affidavit states Hinson shot at Gregory’s vehicle and the vehicle was struck several times. A bullet also hit a passenger.

Great Falls police responded to the residence around 7 p.m. and then were dispatched to Palm Court where Gregory is believed to have fled.

Gregory, 20, has been charged with four felony counts of assault with a weapon.

Hinson, 28, faces two felony charges for criminal endangerment.
