BILLINGS – A Sidney woman is scheduled to be arraigned Friday after police found her infant daughter dead in her home earlier this month.

Sasha Marie Hinds, 30, was arrested Wednesday and is expected to be charged in connection with the death of 2-month-old Kylie Ann Hinds, and for the stabbing of 20-year-old Brendan James Sheehan.

Hinds was incarcerated in the Yellowstone County jail on a $1 million bond after her arrest in Sidney and hospitalization in Billings. She was transported back to Sidney where the case will be prosecuted.

Her first court appearance was scheduled for 10 a.m.

On March 16, around 8:30 a.m., officers with Sidney Police Department and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check at a Sidney apartment. Officers found Hinds and the unresponsive baby in the bathroom. The infant was immediately transported to Sidney Health Center where hospital staff attempted, but were unable to resuscitate the child.

Sheehan was found in a separate apartment building with a single stab wound to the abdomen. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Sheehan, who lived with Hinds, told investigators he and Hinds had taken meth the night before and that Hinds had begun acting violently and erratically toward him and the baby, according to a Sidney Police Department press release.

A second child was present in the apartment and told investigators they saw Hinds behavior and ran to a neighbor to call for help.

Hinds was also taken to the hospital but was later transferred to a Billings hospital where she remained until she was incarcerated.

Investigators said the child died as the result of deep, penetrating wounds to the chest.
