THOMPSON FALLS – A months-long investigation has led to an arrest in a May 2018 murder case in northwest Montana.

Sanders County Sheriff Tom Rummel said Danielle Jeanette Wood is facing a deliberate homicide charge in connection with the May 2018 death of Matthew George Lafriniere.

Wood was taken into custody Wednesday morning and is being held on a $1 million bond in the Sanders County jail.

Sheriff’s deputies and the Thompson Falls Police Department  had responded to reports of a man found unresponsive on May 3, 2018 shortly before 2 p.m.

Sheriff Tom Rummel stated in a social media post on August 7, 2018 that “a lot of evidence has been collected and submitted to the Montana Crime Lab in Missoula and it takes time to process this evidence.”

He thanked the Montana Department of Justice for their help in the investigation.
