James Houston Parker was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting a woman and breaking her ribs.

According to the Great Falls Police Department, officers were called to 9th Street North and 3rd Avenue North for a welfare check around 2:30 p.m.

The GFPD said a woman was walking in the middle of traffic with an injured face while Parker was yelling from a porch.

Parker, 31, refused to listen to officer commands and went inside the house, according to GFPD. He surrendered to police about an hour and a half later before a search warrant arrived.

Three other people inside the residence were charged for obstructing a peace officer.

Witness told GFPD that Parker had been arguing with the victim.

The victim was transported to the hospital with cuts to her face. She also had broken ribs, which punctured her lung and caused the lung to collapse.

Parker has been charged with felony aggravated assault, partner/family member assault, and obstructing a peace officer. He also had four arrest warrants.
