The Fort Peck Tribe recently received a grant that is aimed at reducing violence against Native American women.

The Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance awarded the tribe $499,890 dollars to assist with criminal prosecutions in tribal court and in United States District Court.

The grant is a part of the Tribal Special Assistant United States Attorney Program.

The funding will be used for hiring a tribal prosecutor who will be a special assistant United States attorney.

This will help with reducing violence against Native American women through prosecution, enhanced investigative training and prosecutorial coordination.
