(GREAT FALLS) Owen Jade Hawley has been charged in Great Falls with numerous felonies and misdemeanors for a high-speed chase in August.

Felonies: eight counts of criminal endangerment, and one count of criminal mischief. Misemeanors: fleeing/eluding police, failure to report an accident, failure to render aid, and failure to provide proof of insurance.

According to court documents, on August 3 at 2:39 a.m., a police officer received a report of a possible drunk driver in a white Dodge Avenger near Central Avenue and 15th Street.

The officer initiated a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as Hawley, sped away, leading the officer on a high-speed chase, even driving the wrong way on one-way streets, forcing other drivers off the road, and colliding with other vehicles at speeds of more than 70 miles per hour.

The officer called off the chase due to safety concerns, but did get video of the suspect and identification of the vehicle.

A short time later, Cascade County Sheriff’ deputies found the car unoccupied at 7th Avenue South and 12th Street.

Hawley was arrested later in August in connection with an alleged kidnapping and assault (see below).

Hawley has convictions for disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, obstructing a peace officer, theft, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal endangerment, robbery, and partner/family member assault among others.

(AUGUST 23, 2018) Owen Jade Hawley, 28, and Teasha Marie Lee, 25, both face several charges for kidnapping and assault after allegedly holding a man captive and beating him.

On August 22, an officer was dispatched to Town Pump for a complaint of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a man who indicated he had been chased to the location by Hawley.

According to court documents, the man told the officer Hawley had pulled up next to him in a pickup (later determined to be stolen), pointed a gun at him, and told him to get in the truck.

The man said he ran away as he was afraid of being shot due to a similar incident that occurred on August 20.

The man told the officer that on August 20, Hawley, Lee, and two other individuals held him captive in a detached garage at the back of a property

Court documents state that Hawley allegedly had given Lee a handgun and told her “you know what to do if he tries to escape.”

The man said he was afraid to leave and that while being held, Lee repeatedly hit him with a baseball bat and brass knuckles at Hawley’s direction.

The officer observed a large wound to the left side of the man’s scalp as well as several large bruises on his arms and legs. The man said he managed to escape a few hours later.

A search warrant was obtained and executed on the residence and garage where a bat and brass knuckles were recovered.

Lee confessed to striking the victim with the baseball bat and brass knuckles.

Court documents continue that the stolen pickup was recovered near Hawley’s residence.

Lee has been charged with two felonies for assault with a weapon and aggravated kidnapping (acountability). She has previous convictions for theft and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

Prosecutors requested her bond be set at $25,000.

He has convictions for disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, obstructing a peace officer, theft, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal endangerment, robbery, and partner/family member assault among others.
