GREAT FALLS — There were 136 new cases added to the total on the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map on Tuesday morning, and six new deaths. Cascade County reported the most new cases with 39, followed by Yellowstone County with 19 and Flathead County with 16. Hill County added 13 new cases, and Big Horn County added 12.

Five of the six new reported deaths occurred in Yellowstone County in July and August but were just added to the state data.

The data below is from the official Montana website on August 25:

  • TOTAL CASES & RECOVERIES: Montana now reports 6,624 cumulative cases statewide, with 4,891 people recovered.
  • HOSPITALIZATIONS: There are currently 119 patients hospitalized, which is five more than yesterday. There have been 394 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
  • ACTIVE CASES: The state reports there are currently 1,556 active COVID-19 cases in Montana.
  • DEATHS: The cumulative number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Montana is 97, an increase of six within the last 24 hours.
  • TESTING: The number of tests increased by 2,834 over the previous 24-hour reporting period, for a new cumulative state-wide total of 236,507.

Numbers reported by the state each day occasionally differ from those reported by county public health departments due to periodic lag times in reporting data to the state. We encourage people to check the official website and/or Facebook page of their respective county health department for any updates that are not yet included in the state's daily updates.

Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter said on Monday that 55 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at the Cascade County Detention Center. He said that 53 inmates and two detention center staff tested positive. Many inmates are displaying no symptoms, some mild symptoms, and a few have more severe symptoms, according to Slaughter. We do not yet know how many of these confirmed cases are included in Tuesday's total number of cases reported by the state. Click here to read more.
