GREAT FALLS — Health officials reported 67 new COVID-19 cases across Montana on Thursday morning, a new one-day record for new cases, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.

TOTAL CASES & RECOVERIES: There have now been 1,083 cumulative cases statewide, and 672 people have recovered from the virus.

HOSPITALIZATIONS: There have been 106 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began; there are currently 14 patients hospitalized.

ACTIVE CASES: The state reports there are currently 389 active COVID-19 cases in Montana, up from 336 on Wednesday.

TESTING: The number of tests increased by 1,819 over the previous 24-hour reporting period, for a new cumulative state-wide total of 95,149.

DEATHS: The cumulative number of deaths in Montana is 22. There have been six deaths in Toole County, four in Yellowstone County, two in Cascade County, two in Flathead County, and two in Big Horn County. The other deaths have been reported in Gallatin, Lincoln, Madison, and Missoula counties. The most recent death was reported on June 26th.

CASCADE COUNTY: According to the state data, Cascade County currently has 12 active cases, and a cumulative total of 34. Of those 34 cases, 20 patients have recovered, and two have died. Free drive-through testing is available in Great Falls from Alluvion Health in the parking lot of the former Westgate Mall, located at 3rd Street NW. Click here for dates and times. As with previous reporting of COVID-19 cases, the lack of specific information about cases has some people upset, but the disclosure of patient information is regulated at both the federal and the state level. NOTE: MTN is reporting one fewer total case and one fewer recovered case due to a case in Jefferson County that public health authorities report involved a patient who was not in the state. There is also a discrepancy between Gallatin County and state health officials. County health officials report three fewer active cases than state health officials. MTN is reporting the numbers provided by county health officials.

Yellowstone County reported the largest increase with 14 cases. Missoula County reported 10 new cases, and Gallatin and Richland counties each reported six new cases. Five new cases were reported in Big Horn and Teton counties. The cases in Teton County are the first to be reported in that area. Four new cases were reported in Flathead and Glacier counties, and three new cases were reported in Carbon, Madison and Silver Bow counties. Cascade, Custer, Lewis and Clark, Park, and Beaverhead counties each reported one new COVID-19 case.

Governor Steve Bullock is scheduled to conduct a news conference at 1 p.m. today (July 2) to provide updates on new cases, encourage Montanans to use masks, and present a plan for reopening schools later this year. We plan to broadcast the news conference on KRTV and livestream it on our website, and will have details on our evening newscasts.
