GREAT FALLS — There were 143 new cases added to the total on the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map on Thursday morning. Yellowstone County reported the most new cases with 43, followed by Rosebud County with 29 and Gallatin County with 16. Bighorn County reported 14 new cases, and Lake County added seven.

The data below is from the official Montana website on August 27:

  • TOTAL CASES & RECOVERIES: Montana now reports 6,929 cumulative cases statewide, with 5,024 people recovered.
  • HOSPITALIZATIONS: There are 119 patients hospitalized, a decrease of six from yesterday, and total 412 hospitalizations since the pandemic began.

  • TESTING: The number of tests increased by 2,347 over the previous 24-hour reporting period, for a new cumulative state-wide total of 240,659.

Numbers reported by the state each day occasionally differ from those reported by county public health departments due to periodic lag times in reporting data to the state. We encourage people to check the official website and/or Facebook page of their respective county health department for any updates that are not yet included in the state's daily updates.

The four counties in the KRTV viewing area with the most (cumulative) cases are Cascade, Lewis & Clark, Glacier, and Phillips.

On Tuesday, the City-County Health Department in Great Falls confirmed 39 cases; we do not know how many of those are also reflected in the numbers reported in the detention center. The CCHD noted these 39 cases are associated with contact investigations, community spread, and with the cluster at the jail that was reported yesterday. The 39 cases reported by CCHD are 10 men in their 20s; 18 men in their 30s; six men in their 40s; and five men in their 50s.

Governor Steve Bullock is scheduled to host a news conference at 2 p.m. today to provide an update on the state’s response to COVID-19, including back to school and school-related activities. He will also make an announcement related to unemployment insurance.
