It was really nice to see the sunshine today, but more winter weather is on the way.

The first wave of light snow will be moving in late Tuesday night, and on and off showers will last through early Thursday.

The heaviest band of snow will move in Wednesday evening as a cold front moves through.

In all, Central Montana will pick up 1 to 4 inches of new snow, with slightly higher totals at higher elevations along the Divide, and in the Little Belts and the Highwoods.

Less snow is expected along the Hi-Line and in Eastern Montana.

Given the potential for accumulating snow, the National Weather Service has extended a Winter Weather Advisory through 11 am Thursday.

With snow and clouds moving in Tuesday night, temperatures will be a little bit warmer, but still dipping below zero along the Hi-Line and in Northeast Montana.

Highs will range from the single digits to as high as the lower 20s on Wednesday.
