Temperatures have bumped up big time on Thursday, and will continue to do so Friday and Saturday.

Overnight lows Thursday night and Friday night will fall into the mid 20s to mid 30s.

Highs Friday and Saturday will be in the 40s and 50s across the state.

Besides winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour and cloudy skies, both days look pretty enjoyable.

However, big changes will be moving in Saturday evening.

That’s when an arctic cold front will begin to push through Montana.

This will bring snow all the way through Monday, (and possibly another round Monday night into Tuesday) and frigid cold to the state.

Given these hazards, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch.

Snow looks to be heavy with this system.

Model estimates still vary, but put most of us in the 4 to 10 inch range.

We’ll be able to refine that forecast in the coming days.

As for cold, it looks to be the coldest weather in some time, with highs remaining below zero for much of the state by Monday.
