Winds increased on Saturday and temperatures have risen to above average for most of the region.
Temperatures overnight will remain pretty mild in north-central portions of the state in the 30s and 40s with cooler air towards the south near Helena.
Tomorrow’s high will occur in the morning hours as temperatures start off mild before a cold front drops from Canada bringing in a rapid change of conditions.
Ahead of the front, precipitation arrives as rain or a mix of rain and snow. As the front passes and temperatures drop behind the front, precipitation will gradually transition to all snow.
With the front, temperatures will drop pretty quickly and winds will ramp up.
The National Weather Service has issued both a High Wind Warning and a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of the region on Sunday, some alerts lasting through Monday.
For the plains and valleys, we will see general new accumulation of a coating to an inch or two while the mountains could see anywhere from 4 inches up to a foot in some regions.
A High Wind Warning is in effect for the Northern and Southern Rocky Mountain Front from Sunday 2 AM through 5 PM. Sustained winds will be 30-40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph.
A High Wind Warning is also in effect for much of northern and central Montana through the day on Sunday.
Gusts in these areas will be up to 60 mph.
