A strong Canadian cold front continues to move through the region today which has brought widespread snow and a drop in temperatures.
Temperatures this morning were in the 30s and 40s but as the cold front slid through the state, temperatures dropped into the 20s and teens this afternoon.
Snow showers will continue through this evening with areas of blowing snow also expected. Blowing snow dropping the visibility combined with slick icy and snow covered roads will make for hazardous travel.
The National Weather Service has Winter Weather Advisories to remain in effect for much of north central Montana through Monday.
A Winter Storm Warning along the Rocky Mountain Front will also remain in effect through Sunday evening.
For New Year’s Eve we can expect very cold temperatures with high’s only reaching the single digits and teens.
This cold airmass starts to move away towards the east on Tuesday as we gradually see temperatures warm back near freezing on Tuesday. Breezy westerly winds pick back up on Tuesday as well.
Temperatures rise even more the remainder of the work week.
