(GREAT FALLS) The 2018 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour kicks off Friday night in Great Falls.

The tour is the one and only fundraiser that benefits the Great Falls Ski Patrol. The organization has been around for over 70 years and has been hosting the Banff Mountain Film Festival for close to 20 years.

“One of the neat things about this Banff Mountain Film Festival event is, of course, Banff tours the country with these films, actually goes internationally. Great Falls is the very first stop on their tour. This is the first time these films are being shown,” Great Falls ski patrol representative Justin Grohs said.

All proceeds will be used to help stock medical supplies for the patrol.

The Great Falls Ski Patrol is a volunteer base organization that provides patrol for Showdown Ski Area.

The group of about 50 men and women work all hours of operation on the mountain and are in charge of making sure those skiers and snowboarders are having a fun, safe experience.

Grohs said tonight’s event is an awesome way to bring community members together who share the same interests.

“It’s a great way to kind of kick off the winter season and get everyone stoked up to do whatever activity they are passionate about, which for us is primarily skiing,” Grohs said.

The 2018 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour features the following films:

  • Far Out
  • Rouge Elements
  • Fast Horse
  • Grizzly Country
  • Viacruxis
  • The Ario
  • The Moment
  • The Frenchy
  • Far Out: Kai Jones
  • Craig’s Reaction
  • Skier Versus Drone
  • Surface
