The grain elevators in Hobson are getting a lot of community support.
Pride Of The Judith posted the following update recently on Facebook:
THE ELEVATORS ARE SAFE!! A huge thank you to all that honor their presence and have donated for their salvation!! We have reached our fall fundraising goal to secure insurance and lease. We continue to work towards our full goal of $30,000 for new roofs and siding repairs to keep them healthy for another 100 years.
Gally’s Brewery in Harlowton opened last December and is relatively new to the microbrewery business. But that hasn’t stopped the owners from stepping up to the plate to help a good cause in Hobson, which is just 50 miles up the road.
Pride Of The Judith approached Gally’s Brewery in efforts to help them raise the money needed to recondition the Hobson elevators.
Gally’s Brewery agreed to help with the effort by creating a custom brew specifically for The Pride of The Judith organization. But to carry a name like, “The Pride of The Judith,” the beer had to be something special.
Gally’s Brewery rose to the challenge and created a one of a kind, Montana Amber Ale. The beer incorporates 100% Montana ingredients. You might think this is an easy task, but with very few Montana companies malting barley, it’s quite challenging.
On June 26th, “The Pride of The Judith” beer was released and $1 from every pint supports the efforts. So far, Gally’s Brewery has raised about $600 for the restoration of the elevators.
Organizers hope to raise a total of $30,000 to support the restoration project. The project would consist of sealing the entrances of the elevators and restoring the exteriors. The money would also cover structural insurance required by BNSF.
Following their restoration, total yearly costs are estimated at around $2,500 and include the BNSF lease, insurance, and taxes.
