(MARCH 31, 2015) Rory Anderson, accused of crashing his pickup truck into the Verizon Wireless store on 10th Avenue South in November 2014, changed his plea in court on Tuesday.
Anderson, 51 years old, pleaded guilty to felony criminal mischief. The plea agreement carries a recommended five-year suspended sentence.
Anderson admitted that he crashed his pickup truck through the front of the store on November 23 after an altercation with his then-wife.
Police said that Verizon store surveillance footage showed the red pickup truck driving through the front window, turning around in the store, and then crashing through a second front window before leaving the scene.
Verizon officials reported that damages were in excess of $50,000.
The incident happened when the store was closed, and no injuries were reported.
The store was closed for less than 48 hours before re-opening.
Cascade County Attorney John Parker tells us that Anderson’s sentencing has been scheduled for May.
(November 24, 2014) Rory Anderson was arrested Sunday night after reportedly driving his truck into the Verizon store at 2319 10th Avenue South early Sunday.
GFPD responded to multiple alarms at the store just before 4:30 a.m.
The store sustained about $50,000 in damage.
Police found a license plate left at the scene that is registered to 51-year-old Anderson.
He was involved in what police described as an “incident” with his wife on Saturday; the two are separated, and she works at the store.
According to police, Anderson drove his truck into the store, destroying the front and everything inside before backing the truck out.
Anderson was arrested on Sunday night, and has been charged with felony criminal mischief.
It is not yet known if additional charges will be filed.
Court documents state that Anderson has convictions in Utah for criminal mischief, co-habitant abuse, and disorderly conduct.
A Verizon spokeswoman said on Monday evening that the store will re-open on Tuesday, November 25th, at 10 a.m.
