Driver cited for DUI after collision with Plentywood High School volleyball team bus

The Plentywood High School volleyball team bus was involved in a crash on Saturday.

According to Sheridan County Undersheriff Scott Nelson, the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 16 and Highway 258, which is commonly referred to as Reserve Highway.

The volleyball team was traveling home after the Froid-Lake Invitational. Nelson said it appeared a passenger car made a left turn in front of the bus and the bus struck the car. The car caught fire, but the fire was quickly extinguished.

Nelson said the driver of the car was taken to the hospital. Some of the passengers on the bus sustained minor injuries, but they have all been medically released at this time.

The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office turned the investigation over to the Montana Highway Patrol.

On Monday, the MHP told KRTV that the driver of the car has been cited for DUI.
