Great Falls Police Department welcomes 2 new officers

Posted

(GREAT FALLS) Two men who are not afraid to take oaths, who both served in the United States Air Force for many years, were sworn in as new officers of the Great Falls Police Department on Wednesday.

Anthony Formell and Christopher Brown both live in Great Falls and decided to take the step to serve the community.

Municipal Court Judge Steve Bolstad, before swearing in the new officers, said, “This job will cause you some sorrow but will also cause you some joy.”

Anthony and his wife have been living in Great Falls for eight years and Christopher and his wife for six years.

Being an officer isn’t always something Anthony saw himself doing when he joined the Air Force, but he ended up really loving it. He said, “It’s not always what I wanted to do, but it’s what I really want to do now. To do what I actually want to do is a huge, huge deal for me.”

He said being becoming a GFPD officer is one of the biggest things he’s done in his life. “I finally get the opportunity to do more than just serve my country, now I’m serving my community on a smaller basis.”

But as for Christopher Brown, being a police officer has something he has wanted to do since he was a police Explorer in high school, calling this a dream of his finally coming true.

“I’m just glad to be able to transition from military service to serving the community of Great Falls,” Christopher said.

Anthony and Christopher will take on badge number 336 and number 337 at the GFPD.
