Posted

Two people escaped serious injuries after their small plane hit a power line and crashed in Glacier County on Tuesday evening.

The Glacier County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release on Wednesday that they received a 911 call at 6:57 p.m. from a man who said that there was a downed aircraft in the vicinity of Johnson and Augare Roads.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and found that the two occupants of the plane – whose names have not been released – sustained only minor injuries. They were treated at the scene and released.

The preliminary investigation by the Sheriff’s Office indicates that the pilot was circling at low altitude when he hit a power line; the pilot told authorities that he then crashed in an nearby field.

The Taylorcraft BC 12-D single-engine plane sustained "catastrophic damage" in the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been contacted to investigate, as is standard in all such situations.

Responding agencies included the GCSO, Glacier County EMS, Glacier County Rural Fire, Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services, and Glacier County DES.
