Shrine Stories: Meet Grant

Posted

The top high school football athletes in Montana will take the field for the annual East-West Shrine Game on Saturday,  July 21st.

The game will be at 6 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Great Falls.

The game helps to raise money for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Spokane

“I’m Grant from Great Falls Montana. I have bilateral club feet that means my feet were turned in when I was born. So when I was little, I got surgery on my heels. They put a casts on my legs all the way up to my thighs.  At Shriners Hospital I really like Coco the nurse, Dr. Baret and Peter who did my brace.  Coco was really silly and Dr. Baret he’s taken care of me when I was little and Peter got my orthotics’ and my braces. Soon I’m going to get surgery when my feet are all done growing and they are going to try reset my bones because they probably gonna have to physically break my legs to do this, so I’m gonna have surgery to straighten them out. And hopefully I’ll be able to walk a little bit straighter.  I like to play basketball.  Without the help from the Shriners I wouldn’t be able to play basketball or any other sports.”

Mom: “We are so grateful for the Shriners Hospital and what they have been able to do with him. And the local Shriners group helping us with travel expenses and lodging has just been a lifesaver.  There have been times where we made three trips in a month out to Spokane to go to treatments.  Our family truly believes that he walks because of the Shrine Hospital.”

The game will will be broadcast on KRTV and KXLH, and can also be watched online at MontanaSports.com.

We’ll have more inspirational stories from Shriner patients and families, and then you’ll see the stars of Montana high school football take the field.
