July 3rd across much of Montana was a bit cooler than normal, with temperatures in and around Great Falls hovering around 60 degrees for much of the day.
But just 40 minutes southeast of Great Falls, there was snow falling.
Showdown Ski Area in the Little Belt Mountains posted photos from their webcams showing the snow, with just a little bit accumulation.
They said that the temperature at the time was about 29 degrees.
But the snow won’t stick around for long – temperatures are expected to start warming up on Wednesday, and will likely rise into the upper 80s and even the 90s by the end of the week.
The elevation in Great Falls is about 3,300 feet above sea level; the elevation at Showdown ranges from 6,800 to 8,200 feet.
