Beau Herman Miller and Amber Sue Miller have been charged with several felonies after allegedly pointing a gun at people in another vehicle while driving on Overlook Drive and 10th Avenue South.
According to court documents, police received reports of a Mercury Cougar chasing a GMC Sierra truck near the intersection of 4th Street South and 10th Avenue South on Tuesday afternoon.
An officer saw the two vehicles pull into the parking lot of Montana Federal Credit Union along 8th Avenue South; the officer got out of his patrol car and pointed his pistol at the occupants of the Mercury; the two were later identified as Beau Miller and Amber Miller.
The court documents state that as the officer moved past the Mercury, he could smell the odor of an engine that was overheating, which made him believe the car had been chasing the truck for some time.
The GMC Sierra began to leave the area and responding officers stopped it in the parking of Riddle’s Jewelry on 10th Avenue South.
The people in the GMC told officers that they saw Beau Miller standing through the sunroof of the Mercury and pointing a gun at them while they were driving on Overlook Drive. Both individuals told police they were scared.
After Beau and Miller were cleared from the Mercury, a black semi-automatic pistol was seen on the backseat floorboard.
An officer heard Beau state that he was just trying to protect his family, and also said that one of the people in the truck stole money from him about a month ago and "it just escalated from there."
Beau also said that, "I wanted to pull over so we can handle it like men in the streets" and that Amber did not do anything wrong besides hit the gas and follow the truck when he asked her to.
Beau has been charged with two felony counts of assault with a weapon and one felony count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted person.
According to charging documents, he has an "extensive" criminal history including convictions for criminal possession with intent to sell dangerous drugs, and probation revocations/parole violations.
Court documents allege that Amber knowingly and purposely aided Beau in pointing a weapon at the individuals in the truck. She has been charged with two felony counts of assault with a weapon (accountability).
She has a misdemeanor criminal history in Pennsylvania for assault and recklessly endangering.
Prosecutors requested that Beau’s bond be set at $40,000 and Amber’s bond be set at $20,000.
