KRTV is celebrating: on this date 60 years ago – June 27, 1958 – KRTV went on the air for the first time.
Sadly, that same day, a powerful windstorm damaged our television tower, knocking us off the air for several months.
In 1960, KRTV pioneered the first remote live shot in north-central Montana – reported live at the state fair.
In 1961 we announced we would soon begin broadcasting in color.
And in 1962, we launched ‘Today In Montana.’ – hosted by long-time co-anchor Norma Ashby.
Throughout the rest of 2018 – we’ll be diving into our archives and bringing you stories about the people, events, and places that have defined Montana for the last 60 years.
