Dozens of people laced up their hiking boots in Great Falls to participate in a nationwide event.
Saturday was National Trails Day and Get Fit Great Falls hosted an event to help people in the community get active and give them a chance to explore some of Montana’s beautiful sights.
All 14 hikes were led by experienced hikers to places like Roger’s Pass, Memorial Falls, and Giant Springs.
“It’s just really to get people outdoors, maybe you don’t know about a hike or maybe you heard of someplace but you don’t want to go alone,” said Barbara Beessette, co-leader of Get Fit Great Falls. “This way we have coordinated hike leaders to take people who aren’t as experienced as maybe they are.”
The group is a non-profit organization that helps people in Cascade County eat healthier and get active.
