Strong thunderstorms are likely Thursday afternoon.

The passage of a cold front will provide the trigger needed to kick off strong and possibly severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon.

Storms are expected to kick up by Lewistown around 3:30 pm.

These storms are expected to gain strength and travel northeast, cutting between Havre and Glasgow.

The next round of storms; which I suspect will be stronger will start around 6:00 pm, just north of Great Falls.

This system will track toward Havre, likely becoming severe as it nears the Hi-Line.

Gusty winds and small hail will be the main impacts of the passing storms on Thursday.

Lingering rain is expected on Friday morning.

Showers will last into the weekend, finally drying up a bit on Sunday.
