Brian Myers, whose new rescue dog rescued him from a medical emergency, was finally released from the hospital and reunited with his beloved pup, Sadie. In the must-see video of the reunion, the love between these best friends is undeniable.

This special bond between the German shepherd and her human started just a few months ago, when Myers adopted 6-year-old Sadie from Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge in Oakland, New Jersey. The sweet dog had a lot of anxiety and trust issues, and the shelter staff warned Myers that Sadie didn’t like men. But she made an exception for Myers, and he worked patiently with her to develop a strong bond.

A few months after finding her forever home with Myers, Sadie proved her loyalty to the man who rescued her by saving his life after the 59-year-old had a stroke at home. The good girl helped him reach help by licking his face to keep him awake and helping to pull him to his phone.

With strokes, it’s important to get medical attention as quickly as possible, because it can minimize the long-term effects and even prevent death, according to the American Stroke Association. Sadie’s attentiveness might have saved her owner’s life!

While her owner remained at the hospital for treatment, Sadie stayed with Myers’ brother’s family. The shelter stayed in touch and has been posting updates on Facebook, such as this post that shared Myers’ account of the night Sadie came to his rescue.

Myers couldn’t wait to be reunited with his pup, and finally, the big day arrived. Sadie was waiting outside the hospital to greet her beloved friend, and people gathered to see the happy reunion. As Myers was wheeled outside, she came right up and greeted him with lots of hugs and kisses. In fact, as you can see in the video posted by the shelter, Sadie was so excited, she licked Myers’ face mask right off!

Myers thanked the health care team at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation for all their hard work to help him recover.

“I can’t wait to be home with her,” he said during the tearful reunion.

Now, Myers said wants to spend his time taking care of Sadie and showing her a lot of love and gratitude.

“I intend to spend the rest of my life giving her the best life I can,” Myers said in another video posted by the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge.

The shelter decided to start a fund to help with Sadie’s future care since her owner now has to go on disability as a result of his health issues. If you want to help support Sadie, you can visit Sadie’s Future Fundraiser website and make a donation.

Sadie will also given a Heroic Dog Award from PETA, according to ABC7NY.

“Sadie’s intelligence and tenacity saved Brian’s life,” said PETA vice president Colleen O’Brien, ABC7NY reported. “Her heroism reminds us that many loving, dedicated dogs are waiting in shelters for a family to join, and PETA encourages anyone with the ability and resources to care for an animal to adopt one from a local shelter.”
