While doughnuts are typically seen as a breakfast food, one thing is certain: they’re definitely more dessert-like than a bowl of cereal or a plate of bacon and eggs.
And now, Krispy Kreme is taking the sweetness even further with a brand new collection: mini dessert doughnuts! The new limited-edition collection is inspired by four fan-favorite desserts. The flavors are: Lemon Bar, Strawberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Birthday Cake.
Available now at participating shops across the U.S. and Canada, you can try all four of the mini desserts in a four-count box and then step it up to a 16-count box once you find your favorites. According to a post on Krispy Kreme’s Instagram, they’re around until Jan. 31.
Krispy Kreme has also deemed Wednesdays throughout the month of January (Jan. 13, 20 and 27) as mini “Win-days,” when the doughnut shop will offer deals. Just follow @krispykreme on social media and to find out what the “Win-day” offer is each week.
While this is the first time Krispy Kreme has offered mini dessert doughnuts, it is not the first time they’ve added doughnuts inspired by desserts to their menu.
They offered up pie-themed doughnuts for Thanksgiving in 2019 and most recently, had a dessert line last June with flavors including banana pudding, Mississippi mud pie and coconut cake.
While the new mini versions are currently the only dessert doughnuts on the menu, Krispy Kreme does have an array of other indulgent doughnuts.
Along with the usuals like glazed, chocolate and cinnamon sugar, their menu also includes a doughnut filled with dulce de leche (a caramel-like confection), one filled with cheesecake and even a cake batter doughnut, which is filled with cake batter Kreme and topped with yellow icing and bright confetti sprinkles.
They also added a Reese’s Classic Doughnut to their permanent menu after fans voted on which Reese’s treat they wanted to return. The classic doughnut is filled with Reese’s Peanut Butter Kreme, dipped in Hershey’s chocolate icing and topped with mini peanut butter chips plus a drizzle of chocolate and Reese’s peanut butter sauce.
Which new Krispy Kreme doughnut will you be trying first?
