During the month of December, many of us have visions of sugarplums dancing in our heads. Now, thanks to Dunkin’, you can see that vision come to life in a beautiful and unusual new seasonal drink.
As part of Dunkin’s holiday drink menu, you can pick up a Sugarplum Macchiato at your favorite drive-thru location while you’re doing your holiday shopping or when you need a well-deserved festive indulgence.
So, what exactly is a Sugarplum Macchiato?
Served hot or iced, the new Sugarplum Macchiato combines blackberry, blueberry, plum and raspberry with hints of vanilla and sugar layered on top of some espresso and milk to create a whimsical sugarplum concoction.
People are sharing their first tastes of the Sugarplum Macchiato on social media using the hashtag #DunkinSugarPlum. TikTok influencer and foodie Justin Schuble brought his fans along as he hit up the local Dunkin’ drive-thru to get a taste of the Sugarplum Macchiato.

Fans asked Schuble how he liked the mixture of fruit flavors with coffee.
“I liked it!” he replied. “A cool flavor combo.”
According to the Dunkin’ news site, the coffee chain’s culinary team first started flirting with the idea of a sugarplum drink in 2016 when two research and development workers danced around the culinary lab, “reenacting ballet moves from ‘The Nutcracker'” as a part of the holiday-drink brainstorming session. After some experimenting, they settled on the fruity, layered, purple drink on offer at Dunkin’ today.
To go along with the Sugarplum Macchiato, you can also pick up the latest holiday snack from Dunkin, the new Frosted Snowflake donut.
These holiday menu items are only available for a limited time. You won’t want to wait until the last minute to snag them or they may fly away with Santa before you can give them a try.
