A Great Falls teacher has found a way to keep sleepy seniors awake.
C.M. Russell High School biology teacher Tom Cubbage purchased a coffee roaster for his students with the help of One Class At A Time.
They’ve started a lab on the biology and chemistry of coffee.
Cubbage said students are interested in the lab because coffee is a drink many are familiar with.
“With the coffee, we can look at the roast, the original beans where they came from, the habitat, the climate they came from,” he said.
Students said the unit is a great way to end the school year. Senior Mia Imbrescia said using cause and effect in terms of coffee is unique.
Cubbage added students also learn about the health aspects around drinking coffee.
