Earlier this month, MTN returned to the classroom to see how One Class At A Time was helping 2nd grade students at Holy Spirit Catholic School.

Teacher Stephanie Tacke said her grant purchased alternative seating options like gaming chairs and throw pillows along with several books for her class.

She said having a comfortable place to sit is the first step in nurturing a relationship between students and reading.

“It’s a little easier to convince them to go pick out a book and sit somewhere if they get to sit in the fun chair or have a pillow,” said Tacke.

Students said they enjoy using the new seating and Tacke added they stay more engaged during reading time.

“Kind of fun, comfortable, and relaxing,” said 2nd grade student Lucy Donnell.
