Kindergarten students at Sunnyside Elementary School got some hands-on learning earlier this month.
The class is learning about coding after receiving a grant from One Class At A Time.
Teacher Lisa Herzog purchased five ‘ozobots’ and students programmed the robots to travel in different directions on a map.
Herzog said groups worked together to figure out what the different codes meant for their ozobots.
She said the robots are a great way for everyone to get involved in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) areas at a young age while students said they loved learning the new codes.
“It doesn’t matter who you are, you can have fun with robots and this will help them encourage the technology portion of school,” said Herzog.
Herzog said students will now make posters with the codes they’ve learned.
Students will also build on their coding knowledge through each grade.
