GREAT FALLS — Alliance for Youth’s new Youth Resource Center has been hosting free meals for the past three weeks in Great Falls.

Volunteers from organizations and businesses team up at the skate park to connect with residents and cook hot food each Thursday.

The free meal includes barbecued pork sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, along with fresh produce from the Salvation Army’s "Farmers To Families" food distribution program.

Organizers say they decided to host the meals at a venue that engages residents of all ages. They originally started the barbecues at the facility they recently moved into.

Volunteer and Youth Advocate Zach Bumgarner says they’ve already been able to make an impact with the Center and it’s outreach opportunities like the summer barbecues: ”We’re already making changes in the city and I can’t wait to see where this goes because we need this - Great Falls needs stuff like this.”

They told MTN News that several groups and businesses from the community have stepped up to make each week happen.

"Helped donate and serve and brought food and food to give out at the end of the night and volunteers giving out flyers and to go talk to the kids, he said. “Our friends and family have come out to support us so it's been awesome."

Food is donated by businesses and organizations including Electric City Coffee, Sam’s Club, and the Great Falls Rescue Mission.

Volunteers are out every Thursday grilling at the Riverside Railyard Skate Park. Meals are free and anyone is welcome to stop by.
