Shaun Tatarka with the Great Falls Community Food Bank stopped by KRTV to talk about the 12th annual CANtastic event, which takes place at the Holiday Village Shopping Mall on Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Local teams started work in January on their sculptures, which will be displayed on Saturday. The public can vote for $1 with food and proceeds benefiting the Great Falls Community Food Bank.
Teams this year include the Great Falls High School Key Club, the C.M. Russell High School Key Club, the Great Falls Central High School Key Club, Loenbro, Pepsi of Great Falls, Downtown Chicks, Edward Jones and the Giant Springs Chapter of Credit Unions.
This year also features a 6th grade art contest. First place receives a $150 Scheels gift card, second place receives a $100 gift card while third and fourth place will get $50 gift cards.
The structures and artwork will be on display until March 19th.
CANtastic supports the Backpacks4Kids Program, which provides packs of ready-to-eat, kid-friendly, shelf-stable meals that chronically hungry Great Falls children take home on weekends and holidays.
