Volunteers from all over Great Falls spent Friday morning helping people who need a little extra help around the house.

About 80 volunteers participated in this years United Way’s annual Day Of Caring.

United Way Marketing Director Kim Skornogoski said they have hosted this event for more than a decade.

“You get to do hard work for a good four hours but by the end of it you have made homeowners happy,” Skornogoski said.

Each team was given a list of homes that needed leaves raked, trees trimmed, gutters cleaned, and light home maintenance.

Skornogoski say it is such a rewarding day for not only volunteers but the home owners as well.

“I have even had home owners tell me that this event makes them feel like they can stay in their home for another year because they do not have those nagging tasks. That make you feel helpless, like you cannot stay in your home,” Skornogoski said.

United Way partnered with Aging Services and Meals On Wheels to identify homeowners who could use this service.
