Lily Allen got it all wrong.
The English singer and songwriter is the sister of “Game of Thrones” star Alfie Allen (which was news to a big chunk of the internet), who received his first ever Emmy nomination on Tuesday.
It’s a big milestone for the actor. And it even brought his sister a tear of joy on her Instagram Story.
“OMG he has an Emmy nom,” she wrote. “GO ALF!!!!!!!!”
But that hasn’t stopped fans from re-upping the song she wrote about her baby brother on her 2006 album “Alright, Still.”
The song “Alfie” paints him as someone who…well, probably wouldn’t be on the path to getting nominated for an Emmy.
A small sample of the lyrics might give you some more context:
Oh, Alfie get up it’s a brand new day,
I just can’t sit back and watch you waste your life away,
You need to get a job because the bills need to get paid,
Get off your lazy arse,
Alfie, please use your brain,
Surely there’s some walls out there that you can go and spray,
I’m feeling guilty if I leading you astray,
Now, how the hell do you ever expect that you’ll get laid,
When all you do is stay and play on your computer games?
Some people might call that harsh. Others may consider it as tough sibling love.
Here’s a quick rundown of how “lazy” the Allen brother has been:
- He played Theon Greyjoy, one of the most tortured and dynamic “Game of Thrones” characters, and now has an Emmy nomination
- He has starred in movies, including “John Wick,” “The Predator”
- He is a part of the upcoming film “Jojo Rabbit” as well as the movie adaptation of Caitlin Moran’s novel “How to Build a Girl”
It’s OK. Even big sisters don’t always get things right the first time.
