Keeping kids safe was the focus of a special class held in Great Falls on Sunday.

The Children’s Museum of Montana teamed up with Anchor Fitness for the kids’ safety class.

Organizers says it is important to teach our kids these tools so they are prepared for situation where they might need to be brave.

Kids from ages 4 to 12 learned non-violent self-defense techniques such as how to de-escalate a bullying situation and staying safe while going to and from school.

“We are giving them some skills on how to get out of a signal arm grab. If someone grabbed your arm, what you could do to get away from that. Also how you should react because when we have never been through it and hopefully none of them will never have to go through it, it is something that needs to be reiterated over and over on what you need to do on those situations,” Tamara Podry, Anchor Fitness co-owner said.

The Children’s Museum of Montana and Anchor Fitness hope to host more events like this in the future.
