The Children’s Museum of Montana launched its first main event for their Home for Good fundraising campaign on Sunday evening with a spaghetti dinner meant to raise money for a permanent home.

The future of the Children’s Museum’s location is uncertain as their current lease with the city of Great Falls will expire soon.

According to the Museum’s executive director Morgan Mitchell, museum leaders will meet with city officials in November to determine whether the museum can remain at its current location in Railroad Square.

“We are just trying to be preventative,” she said. “We will probably auto-renew for another five years, but at that point, we know their need for office space is never going to go away and we’d like to be able to continue our educational opportunities.”

While the spaghetti dinner is the first main event for the Home for Good campaign, the museum plans to host a fundraiser every month.

The museum is currently running a fundraiser called Pack the House, a coin collection challenge where piggy banks are placed at Great Falls businesses.

Mitchell explained that $3.5 million is the overarching goal, however, they are working towards smaller goals.

“We need $10,000 for like a deposit on a building. We need a certain amount of money for the move so we don’t want to scare anyone off with that $3.5 million because it does seem rather lofty.”

Sunday’s family friendly event offers pasta, pizza, salads, drinks, and ice cream for $10. The museum will stay open for families to enjoy until 9 p.m.
