The Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame presented one of their own with a new honor on Friday.

The C.M. Russell Museum received the “Saddle of Honor” for Charlie M. Russell.

This is the first time the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame has presented this honor.

They hope to make this an annual event, and the saddle will be presented to a person who is already in the hall of fame.

It is designed to acknowledge the great leadership of the member

“Charlie Russell was inducted into that hall of fame decades ago. It seemed appropriate for him to be the recipient of the first saddle. The saddle that is being received is actually is a faithful reproduction of the actual saddle that he rode the last five years of his life as a cowboy before he became a full time artist,” said Tom Petrie, board chairman of the C.M. Russell Museum.

The saddle will be on display at the C.M. Russell Museum.
