(MISSOULA) A four-year-old Mission Valley boy is in stable condition after the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribal Police removed the child from an abusive home.

Officers found the child at a Ronan area home and determined he was in need of immediate medical attention.

He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and later flown to an out-of-state hospital. The current medical condition of the child has not been disclosed.

Keith Lee Michel, Jr., 28 years old, was arrested on an outstanding warrant in connection with the case and later charged with assault on a minor.

He’s being in custody in the Lake County jail.

On Tuesday, his bond was increased from $20,000 to $200,000, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A 24-year-old woman was also arrested for an outstanding warrant through tribal court while other children in the home were remanded to Tribal Social Services.

An investigation is continuing and Lake County Sheriff Don Bell says that more charges may be filed as a result of the investigation.
