A 32-year-old Conrad man died in an early morning crash near Conrad on Sunday.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the man was driving an Audi A6 east on Highway 219 when he failed to negotiate a lefthand curve 10 miles southwest of Conrad.

The vehicle went off the right side of the road, hit an approach, and then launched into the air 156 feet. The car then rolled several times and came to rest on its wheels.

The driver was not ejected. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Emergency personnel arrived just before 5 a.m., but authorities believe the crash may have happened anytime between midnight and 4 a.m.

Alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the crash.
