(1st Report, 1:22 p.m.) The Montana Highway Patrol reports that at least one person has been injured in a crash east of Great Falls.

The crash was reported to the MHP at 12:32 p.m. on Thursday along US Highway 89 near mile marker 82.

There is no word yet on how many vehicles are involved, nor the nature or extent of any injuries.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible for a while as emergency crews work to help the victims and clear the scene.

One person sent the following message to KRTV: "My husband is stuck in a semi at the top of the hill and traffic is stopped. He said folks are turning around." She then wrote: "He just called and said that they turned folks around so they could go to the Highwood road. Unfortunately the semis are stuck!"

(UPDATE, 4:16 p.m.) The Belt Rural Volunteer Fire Department shared the following information on Facebook:

At 1227 today Belt Rural and Belt Ambulance were dispatched to MM82 on US Highway 89 for a vehicle rollover with extrication required. E201 responded and requested Mutual Aid from Malmstrom Fire. A SUV pulling a travel trailer rolled onto its side entrapping one patient. Bystanders at the scene did a great job of assisting the Pt. until EMS could arrive. A second Pt. was able to self extricate. E201 and Malmstrom E5 utilized E201’s gear and stabilized the vehicle and extricated the second Pt. One Pt. was transported by Belt Ambulance and the other Pt. by Mercy Flight. Thank you to Malmstrom Fire for your assistance! Responding agencies included Belt Ambulance, Malmstrom Fire, GFES, Mercy Flight, BRVFD, CCSO, and MHP.
