Margaret DeMarco, Reporter

Margaret DeMarco joined the staff of KRTV and the Montana Television Network in July of 2014.

Born in Minnesota and raised in Colorado, Margaret started her news career at the University of Northern Colorado. She helped build the universities first news program, as well as directed it for a year and a half. As well as helping her school’s program expand, Margaret interned at KMGH in Denver. This is where she found her love of editing. After completing two internships with the company, Margaret graduate with a double major in Mass Communication and Sociology.

Margaret’s first job in journal took her to KSNV in Las Vegas Nevada. She worked as a traditional video editor for three years and helped covered stories like OJ Simpson trial. Margaret won an Electronic Media Award for a local story about the Olympics and her first Mark Twain for the 9th anniversary of 9/11.

After three years, Margaret’s next job took her to KOIN in Portland Oregon where she was a video editor and was also able to help content produce for the weekend shows. This is where Margaret won her second Mark Twain for the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 where she interviewed former Police Chaplin Wally Johnson about his experience at Ground Zone after the attacks. Margaret also helped cover stories such as Occupy Portland and the Clackamas Town Center Shooting.

Lastly, Margaret landed in Denver Colorado at KUSA. Margaret become a Multi Media Journalist and started to develop her shooting and writing skills, as well as continuing to grow as a video editor. She was also nominated for an Emmy for her work on the one year anniversary coverage of the Aurora Theater Shooting. She helped cover other stories from the September floods to the Arapahoe School Shooting.

Margaret is excited to be in Great Falls and bringing the news to the central part of Montana.
